It’s a 6am call time in Milan, so a mixture of adrenaline and excitement have woken me up. We’re in the fashion capital of the world, Milan for Future Fifty Fest – a special occasion to celebrate half a century of JOICO We’ve got a long day of rehearsals ahead of Tuesday night’s show – lucky for us, lots of good Italian coffee is on hand!
From the get-go it’s all hands-on deck to prep the models, run through the show and make any final touches. I’m not going to lie, it gets chaotic at times, but when you have 25 artists all with the same passion, team work makes the dream work! We wrap up at 9pm after a long day of rehearsals; tired, but proud of everything we’ve accomplished as a team.
Tuesday – Future Fifty Fest
The day has finally come – showtime! This was a night filled with artistry, emotion and inspiration, with every member of the team showing strength and dedication.
From timeless craftsmanship to the beauty of innovation, every look lit up the stage and told a story of passion and evolution. From the roots of hairdressing to the rise of AI-inspired looks, we celebrated every chapter.
It was incredible to meet so many passionate hairdressers from across Europe.
Wednesday – Press Event
Today JOICO Senior Global Artistic Director, Richard Mannah and I hosted an exclusive Q&A for members of the UK trade press. This was followed by a lovely Italian lunch and an opportunity to mingle and catch-up with old industry friends.
I left Milan feeling honoured that I get to work with such incredible people. We’ll never stop growing, learning and sharing our knowledge with one another – it only makes us stronger.
Thursday – No Rest For The Wicked
Despite arriving back from Milan at 10pm last night, I’m back in the salon at 9am ready for a ten-hour shift! I’ve got a full column which means lots of laughs, lots of great clients and lots of energy! The vibe in the salon is always lovely and my clients were all excited to hear about our Italian adventure.
Friday – Breathe!
It’s been a busy week so far so before my weekend at Salon International, it’s time to rest, recharge, relax and take a step back from the hustle!
Saturday – Salon International
It’s one of my favourite weekends of the year – Salon International!
I’m so grateful to have been asked to host the renowned HJ Stage, which showcases the best that our incredible industry has to offer. Education was a focal point of every presentation, and as I always say – we never stop learning!
Salon brings industry professionals together from across the globe to spotlight what we’re all passionate about: creating beautiful hair! Today was full of show-stopping looks, thought-provoking discussions about the industry and the opportunity to catch up with old friends – this is why I love Salon International!
Sunday – Marc Antoni
The Marc Antoni Artistic Team took to the stage at Salon International to showcase 6 looks. For us, colour is an expression of creativity, a vessel for illustrating our individuality and devotion to the craft of hairdressing. I’m so grateful to wake up every day to this wonderful life where I create beautiful hair!
Ever wondered what it’s like to be an International Creative Director for an amazing hair brand? Well spend a week with Richard Ashforth of Vidal Sassoon as he preps for a week of teaching.
