TikTok is the best place to find out what’s trending when it comes to tips, techniques and trends. Here’s our round-up of what’s happening on TikTok right now!
Sheer Nails
A recent ad campaign for fashion brand Phoebe Philo has everyone talking about sheer nails. In the ad, film director Mati Diop is seen wearing some super long, straight edge nails in neutral shades of greens and browns in both opaque and sheer styles.
For some reasons the clear ones have struck a nerve with women across the UK taking in images of the campaign to their nail tech. Also, it turns out #sheernails are a great option for teens headed back to school, although they’re opting for more natural pink and peach tones.
Luckily we were able to find who the nail tech was behind these amazing nails; Sylvie Macmillan! Sadly these are likely the last nails we’ll ever see from Sylvie, as she’s taking her keen eye into the world of homewares now.
Moisture Gloves
Speaking of nails, there’s not much point in someone having a stunning set if they’re not taking care of their hands. Enter moisture gloves; enriched with a nourishing gel that contains vitamins and hydrating ingredients they are usually worn at night but can also be worn during nail treatments. Searches for these gloves are up almost 200% compared to this time last year so be sure to invest in making hydration a key part of your manicure service, or think about selling moisture gloves as a cool retail add-on.
#AcneCareRoutine
Acne is no longer just a phase for teenagers; even women in their 50s are finding that they’re dealing with a new skincare issue in the form of acne, and that’s because it’s highly affected by hormones. Add to that a change in temperatures and you might find many of your facial clients are complaining of unwanted pimples and cysts this season.
Over on TikTok views of acne related content are up by 23,000 week on week and it’s likely because the skincare industry has moved on to more buzzworthy content, such as k-beauty and glass skin. But it’s clear that acne isn’t going anywhere; this could be a good time to think about adding specific acne-related treatments to your services.
Back to Basics
In direct opposition to 10-step skincare regimes there’s a resurgence in 3-step skincare systems. Think back to the ‘90s and ‘00s with brands such as Clinique promising easy, no-nonsense skincare that worked, and required just three products. Maybe it’s the current political climate, maybe it’s the cost of living – either way, many of your clients are too tired to think about complicated regimes; they want products that work.
From a business angle this could be the perfect time for you to think about offering treatments that are more soothing and relaxing, rather than focusing on innovation and cramming multiple products into one visit. As the festive season approaches, time is going to feel more precious, so think about offering your clients an opportunity to zone out with a quality facial that leaves them feeling ready to take on anything.
In this guide, we explain how LED light therapy works, the benefits for different skin concerns, and how salons can use this treatment to grow their business.
