November’s Hottest TikTok Trends You Might Have Missed!
TikTok is the best place to find out what’s trending when it comes to tips, techniques and trends. Here’s our round-up of what’s happening on TikTok right now!
Targeted Haircare
Much like the skincare industry, haircare has become much more innovative and intuitive, and it’s led to a more curious consumer. On social media searches for lightweight conditioners, hair UV protection and scalp serums have all increased indicating that your clients are looking for more targeted treatments.
Now could be a good time to analyse your retail offering or add some new treatments that offer a more bespoke approach. Maybe you add a scalp scrub for your blowdry clients or advise them on how to use hair fibre powders to increase volume.
Don’t forget your male clients, especially your younger ones; apparently, they are looking for quick, easy fixes to help them deal with receding hairlines and thinning hair, so searches for hair fibre powders and coloured touch-up sprays are on the rise.
Creative Curls
One thing about the internet is that it will always find a way to recreate a hairstyle using a distinctly not hair-related object. Right now, it’s all about chopstick curls, and on TikTok alone the hashtag #chopstickcurls is seeing over 1 million views per week! What this tells us is that your clients are looking for defined curls with volume, so this could be a cool time for you to offer a curl-centric menu. You could create a gorgeous hair-up menu for clients with a wealth of natural curls or share more curl education with them or create a curl makeover menu for clients who can only dream of a headful of curls.
Natural Pick Me Ups
It’s that time of year where bugs and viruses threaten to ruin our work and social plans, which explains why searches for easy, natural fixes are up! Compared to this time last year, searches for Moringa supplements are up 200%. A nutrient-dense supplement, it’s known to support energy levels, your immune system and skin health – which are all areas that are affected during the colder months.
Also, searches for sardines are on the rise; apparently this tinned fish is being touted for its Omega 3 properties, and the internet is convinced eating them every day is linked to glowing skin. Well, there could be worse trends, right? Just make sure you’ve got some gum or mints in your bag if you’re eating a tin of sardines at work!
Great Lengths
Right now, on TikTok the hashtag #hairextensioninstall is seeing more than 200,000 views per week, meaning that many of your clients are thinking about some extra oomph ahead of the holiday season. If you’re a salon owner, then be sure to check in with your extensions specialist to work out if you need to create some new in-store promo or some social media content. Likewise, if you’re a freelance hair extensions pro, now is the time to think about how you’re using your social media for optimum marketing results. The internet loves a before and after, so make sure you’re asking your clients if they’re cool with you photographing or filming them going through the process. There’s something about the final reveal that people really love to see!
